The John O’Gaunt Inn
Jane & Jago Hurt, previously of The Hare and Hounds, Old Warden, welcome you to the John O’Gaunt. Here you will find Jago’s delicious, home cooked meals made from fresh, local ingredients, real ales and fine wines – all served in a friendly, comfortable, traditional country pub.
The John O’Gaunt was first licensed back in 1835, having been created from three thatched cottages dating back to the 1700s. It takes its name from the 1st Duke of Lancaster, son of King Edward III, who held the manor of Sutton in the 14th Century.
You’ll find the pub in the charming village of Sutton, deep in the beautiful heart of Bedfordshire and a stones throw from the picturesque packhorse bridge and ford which run across Potton Brook, a tributary of the River Ivel.
Jane & Jago have now taken the John O’Gaunt into the 21st Century, maintaining all that is good from the past, while making it their own – it is the perfect village pub serving delicious food, real ale and fine wines.
