Introductory Walk: Ampthill Park & Houghton House

Saturday 13th January 2024 10:00 - 13:00

Doors open: 10:00 am

Join Stag Walkers, a Ramblers group aimed mainly at people in their 20s, 30s and slightly older, on a short circular walk from Ampthill.

This walk will highlight the true majestic history of Ampthill Great Park and surrounding areas: from a royal hunting ground and army training ground to 80’s TV treasure show, with stunning views over the Bedfordshire countryside.

The walk starts at the bottom of the park and then has a gentle climb to the brow of the hill. We make our way to the ruins of Houghton House where we stop for a short break, then follow the John Bunyan Trail into Ampthill and around Cooper Hill. We can finish with an optional hot drink and cake at the Coffee Lodge.

Booking your place: please book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group at https://www.meetup.com/stagwalkers (free of charge)

Distance: 5 miles / 8km

Dogs are welcome, on a lead.

Bring snacks and drinks, appropriate clothing for the conditions and optionally a basic first aid kit.
