Help volunteer for Historic England’s ‘Missing Pieces’ project
Are you interested in the history of our parks, historic buildings, and ancient monuments? We are looking for volunteers to take part in a project that records our favourite historic sites by adding pictures and stories to the National Heritage List.
The project forms part of Historic England’s ‘Missing Pieces’ project, to add the public’s views of historic places all across the country, everything from battlefields and shipwrecks to pubs, parks and farm buildings.
Our project will help record the unique heritage of Greensand Country and preserve your pictures and stories of what our historic sites mean to you. Whether it’s our unique sandstone or our impressive parkland, adding your stories will give us a well-rounded understanding of our parks, buildings and monuments, helping to protect, preserve, and enhance them.
We’re also looking to add modern images to the Nigel Temple postcard collection, to see how our historic sites have changed over time, such as The Alameda in Ampthill.
If you would like to get involved, the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership is looking for volunteers to come together and add their stories and pictures. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work together or individually, choosing the areas that most interest them.
