Greensand Country is perfect for walkers, with long distance footpaths, easy circular strolls, gentle gradients and astonishing views.
Two long distance trails cross the Greensand Country. The Greensand Ridge Walk currently runs for 40 miles from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, and along with the Greensand Trust and Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity we’re working to extend it at each end. The walk can be tackled in sections, with good public transport links along the route, or you can challenge yourself to complete it in a day. Or take it easy and do the walk over a long weekend, stopping at local B&Bs along the way. Part of the John Bunyan Trail also runs through Greensand Country.
As well as the long distance trails there’s a fantastic network of footpaths through Greensand Country. We’re working on creating maps for seven new trails, including a walk along the Flit Valley from Westoning to Shefford, three new geotrails, and two walks through our historic parklands.
