Greensand Country surrounds the greensand ridge- the long sweep of high ground running from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay
From the top of the ridge, open heaths and meadows give you spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. The beautiful patchwork of heaths, parks, historic houses and woodland means that you can visit lots of different places in a single day, and find something to keep every member of the family happy. There are also plenty of places to stop for a pub lunch or a quick coffee and good public transport links between the main towns and villages.
This website will give you a guide to the Greensand Country, show you how to find places to visit and plan your days out. If you live or work in the Greensand Country, there’s also information about our grant funding- available to help improve your local environment, restore and manage heathland or woodland on your property or in your village, or research your local history. There’s also lots more ways you can get involved in caring for this fantastic landscape.
